Job Description

About the Role

As Program Manager – Feedlot, you will lead the national Feedlot RD&A program, developing and delivering strategy-driven initiatives that improve productivity and profitability across the grainfed industry.

You will manage a nationally aligned portfolio of RD&A investments, ensuring feedlot productivity activities integrate with key cross-sector programs including genetics, sustainability, feedbase resources, animal wellbeing, biosecurity, grassfed productivity and eating quality.

Through strong collaboration with industry partners, researchers and RD&A committees, you will provide industry leadership and deliver outcomes aligned with MLA’s strategic plans and Annual Investment Plan.

Our ideal Program Manager - Feedlot has:

  • Extensive experience in R&D program management and/or Research involving the Beef Feedlot industry or associated food animal industries.
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated achievement in delivering outcomes that improve the productivity and profitability of industry
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of key drivers of profitability and sustainability of the Feedlot industry in Australia, and knowledge of the priorities and issues affecting these industries.
  • Veterinary or postgraduate degree in Animal Production Science and extensive research experience in a relevant discipline.
