MLA Group Recruitment Personal Information Collection Notice
The MLA Group, which consists of Meat & Livestock Australia Limited ABN 39 081 678 364 (MLA) and its subsidiaries, Integrity Systems Company Limited ABN 34 134 745 038 (ISC) and MLA Donor Company Limited ABN 49 083 304 867 (MDC), respects the privacy of individuals. This statement provides you with some important information about our collection of personal information that you provide as part of your application for employment with us.
When and why we collect personal information
During the recruitment process, MLA Group collects applicants’ personal information to assess their suitability for employment and communicating with the applicant during the recruitment process. This may include things like police or criminal history and if relevant, any history of bankruptcy.
If you choose not to provide your personal information, then MLA Group may not be able to assess your suitability for employment.
In the circumstances that an applicant is ultimately offered, and accepts, employment with MLA Group, the personal information provided during the recruitment process will form part of the applicant’s employment records.
Use and Disclosure of personal information
The primary purpose for which MLA Group will use personal information is to assess an applicant’s suitability for employment and communicating with the applicant during the recruitment process.
Throughout the recruitment process, an applicant’s personal information may be disclosed to:
- third party service providers in order to conduct police checks, other criminal record checks, history of bankruptcy and verify personal information;
- other third-party service providers for the purpose of MLA Group’s internal business purposes, including specialist advisers to MLA Group who have been engaged to provide MLA Group with specialist systems and/ or services; and
- an applicant’s referees in order to verify that information (this could be in Australia or overseas). This may include an applicant’s skills and professional experience.
Note: references are usually acquired on a confidential basis and candidates should not expect to receive access to any record of an opinion expressed by a referee unless the referee has given their consent to MLA Group. MLA Group will not disclose an applicant’s personal information overseas, unless it is required to do so to support information provided by the applicant during the application process.
These overseas entities are located in countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
MLA Group also uses the personal information gathered during the recruitment process for the following secondary purposes:
- complying with any applicable legal and regulatory obligations;
- if an application is unsuccessful, MLA will retain the applicant’s information for up to 12 months to consider the applicant’s suitability for alternative employment opportunities with MLA Group which may arise in the future.
